LAST DAY OF LURIA KAITANA!
WEEK 5: AUG 9 - 13, SCIENCE WEEK
TODDLERS:
This is our last week at Luria kaitana. On Monday we had fun making a “train” and singing songs while riding on our train, like “Hinei Rakevet”. We also played outside on the patio coloring with sidewalk chalk. On Tuesday, we had yoga with Tova. Then we went to the playground and had read-aloud time 



after lunch.
4-7 GROUP:
For our last week at Luria Kaitana, we started our morning meeting on Monday discussing the theme ‘SCIENCE’. Then we had a great swim with swimming lessons. After lunch and Kung Fu, we started our Terrarium project. Some of our worms from our worm bin were transferred to the terrarium. On Tuesday, we made our own ice cream in our “Kitchen Chemistry” workshop. We noticed how adding salt to ice made the ice even colder and by shaking our flavored ricemilk, it turned solid. Then we added sprinkles and enojoyed! After swimming and baseball in the park we continued to work on our terrarium by adding flowers and our clay animals that we had created.
LAST DAY OF MUSIC & DANCE
TODDLERS:
We had so much fun today with Jonah’s Savta Marta. She taught us the “Chicken Dance”. Thanks so much for coming! Then we went to the playground and after lunch we had our Shabbat party.
4-7 GROUP:
Today we had a great time in the pool. After lunch, we had a Shabbat party with Limor as she sang Hebrew songs and Victor played guitar. Then Limor read us a book called “The Carrot Seed” in Hebrew. After that was Kung Fu, where we learned tumbling skills. then we finished up our tambourine art project. Thanks to everyone who shared their favorite music cd’s with us!




GOTTA SING! GOTTA DANCE!
TODDLERS:
Today we dressed up and played make believe while Tova and Bernie played music. Then we played a fun game of “freeze dance”.




4-7 GROUP:
Today, some of us brought in our favorite cd’s to show our friends and sing along. After morning meeting, we had a visit from Sara Procopio of Shen Wei Dance. Her workshop included lots of fun dancing games. We even choreographed our own dance with Sara’s guidance. After Swimming and lunch we had Hebrew Language time with Limor. We learned the hebrew words for our instruments. Then we went out to Dean Street park for sports in the afternoon.
WEEK 4: AUG 2 - AUG 6
TODDLERS:
We started music and dance week with Music and Movement with Tova at circle time. On Tuesday, we took our trip to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Thank you to all the moms who joined us, Deborah (Jonah’s mom), Nani (Lia and Ariel’s mom), and Sharon (Annie’s mom). On Wednesday, we made our own shakers for Arts & Crafts by filling containers with corn and then decorating them. Later, we joined the older group for a workshop with Djembe Drums. After lunch, Rivka (Ella’s mom) played guitar and sangs songs with us, which was alot of fun.
4-7 GROUP:
On Monday, we talked about music and all of our favorite kinds of music. In the afternoon we made our own shakers and maracas. On Tuesday we took a trip to Madison Square Park to see the Dirty Sock Funtime Band perform. It was a great show! Then we played at the playground. Wednesday, we had a special workshop with Ibrahim from Keur Djembe. He taught us how he makes Djembe drums and then showed us all how to play them. We learned alot! In the afternoon Rivka (Ella’s mom) came with her guitar and played some songs with us, which we all enjoyed. Then we started making our own tambourines.













LAST DAY OF THEATER ARTS WEEK
TODDLERS:
We finished our week off with music and movement at circle time. Then we went out to the playground. At lunch time we tasted our squash pies. Some of us preferred the sweet squash pie and some preferred the savory pie. Then we joined the older group for a Shabbat party to sing songs for Shabbat.
4-7 GROUP
In the morning we made a tzedaka box and discussed the importance of giving charity at our morning meeting. Swimming was great today and we had swim instruction with Maggie. After lunch we had our Shabbat party with the toddlers, sang Shabbat songs and read a story about Shabbat in Hebrew with Limor (Mor’s mom). Then some of us joined Kung fu and some of us made squash pies with our CSA portion with Tova’s help

. We ended our day with gardening with Maggie and puppet-making with shmuly.
